Jim Vincent took these images of Mars using a Philips Toucam webcam. The first one was taken on Saturday 23rd August 2003 and is made up from stacking 600 individual frames. Sinus Sabaeus can easily be seen as the dark elongation near the centre of the disk. The second was taken before midnight on the 2nd September 2003 and is made up from stacking 300 frames. Using exactly the same setup, you can clearly see how quickly Mars is receeding since its opposition on the 27th August.
